Dairo’s portraits are inspired by his own childhood in Colombia and growing up among children affected by absolute poverty. These children received little or no education and lived in areas riddled with crime. Some suffered abuse and homelessness.
This collection reflects Dairo’s early childhood memories and is a way of processing anxieties drawn from these experiences. His paintings explore the lost territory of childhood and the disparity between dream and reality.
